Zoom Drop-in Advising Sessions for International Students:
The UR International office is organizing drop-in advising sessions through which students can meet with University staff and discuss their registration plan. We will be glad to answer any questions you may have.
Zoom drop-in advising sessions will be held via Zoom on Monday to Friday throughout May to August, 2020. These sessions will be held at the following times (CST):

In order to support our students and ensure the smoothness of their academic journey, the University of Regina International team is working diligently and have prepared a procedure to guide you through this unprecedented and challenging situation. Please read carefully below some scenarios and important information that will assist you in making an informed decision regarding your study plans at the University of Regina and future travel to Canada.
Tuition Payment Deadline:
All University of Regina classes are being offered through distance learning and online teaching platforms during the Spring/Summer 2020 term. The tuition payment deadline for new International Students for all parts of term in the Spring/Summer term will be May 29, 2020. Students who have not paid their Spring/Summer term balance in full by the May 29, 2020 deadline will be withdrawn from their Spring/Summer 2020 term classes.
It is really important that students pay attention to the End of the 100% and 50% tuition refund period, if they unable to continue with the classes they are currently registered for during the Spring/Summer 2020 term.
If you are currently outside Canada, we advise you not to plan your travel to Regina for the Spring/Summer 2020 term.
Students Inside/Outside Canada with a valid Study Permit and Course Registration:
If you are currently inside or outside Canada, have a valid study permit, and are in compliance with the conditions on the study permit, you can proceed with registration for the Spring/Summer 2020 term at the University of Regina.
If you would like to register for courses for the Spring/Summer 2020 term, a copy of your valid study permit and passport must be provided to the UR International office via email at firstname.lastname@example.org . Once a copy of your valid study permit and passport is received, the UR International will assist you with class registration and arrange online orientation sessions with you.
Students Outside Canada with Approved Study Permit:
According to the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announcement on April 9, 2020, “If your in-class courses are being moved to an online-only format because of COVID-19, your eligibility for the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) Program won’t be affected. This includes students who have a study permit or who have been approved for a study permit for a program starting in May or June but who are unable to travel to Canada at this time due to travel restrictions. International students in this situation may begin their classes while outside Canada and may complete up to 50% of their program while outside Canada if they cannot travel to Canada sooner.”

Scenario 1: Registration of the Classes while outside Canada:

Before you make a decision, it is also really important that you are well informed of the IRCC policy while preparing for arrival to Canada in the future: Prepare for arrival.
Scenario 2: Defer enrolment to Fall 2020 term:
For students who are outside Canada, have received visa/study permit approval, and choose not to register for classes in the Spring/Summer 2020 term while they are outside Canada, the University of Regina will defer their enrolment to the Fall 2020 term upon student’s request. The University of Regina will be happy to extend the Letter of Acceptance, if needed. If the student’s Letter of Acceptance does not include the Fall 2020 term, the student is to contact International.Admissions@uregina.ca to obtain a new letter of acceptance to include the 2020 Fall term.
Travelling to Canada:
Due to the recent travel restrictions, we would like to advise you not to plan your travel to Regina for the Spring/Summer 2020 term. If you decide not to register for classes while you are outside Canada, we would highly appreciate your understanding of the uncertain circumstances, and believe it would be better if you defer your enrollment to Fall 2020 term.

Current Canadian Travel Restrictions and Exemptions
The Government of Canada has placed travel restrictions and exemptions for international students. IRCC states: “You must have a plan for how you will self-isolate for 14 days when you get to Canada and how you will obtain medical care if you become sick. While in self-isolation, you will be unable to leave where you are staying for any purpose. If you do not have a plan for self-isolation, including how you will buy groceries and access other essential services, please delay your travel until you have made one.” More information on these travel restrictions and exemptions can be found here.
Necessary Health Check Upon Arrival in Canada
According to IRCC: “If you’re travelling by air, you need to pass a health check before you’re allowed to board your flight. Anyone who shows symptoms of COVID-19 will not be allowed to enter Canada by air. When you arrive in Canada, we'll assess your health before you leave the port of entry. You must isolate for 14 days even if you have no symptoms. This is mandatory.” Please refer to the travel health notices for more information.
Both the Federal and Provincial Governments have made self-isolation a mandatory action. “All travellers returning from international destinations – including the United States – are subject to a mandatory self-isolation order. Violation of the order may result in a $2,000 fine.”
Self-isolation means staying at home and avoiding contact with other people to help prevent the spread of disease to others in your home and your community. Please read carefully measures of how to self-isolate here.
Additionally, the Government of Saskatchewan recommends self-monitoring for symptoms if you have travelled outside of Saskatchewan, but within Canada. More information regarding the Government of Saskatchewan self-isolation policy can be found here.
Supplies that Students Should Bring for Self-Isolation Recommended by IRCC:
- Face masks (do not re-use)
- Eye protection (face shield/goggles)
- Disposable glove (for caretakers)
- Disposable paper towel
- Waste container with plastic liner
- Alcohol prep wipes
- Over the counter medication to reduce fever (i.e. ibuprofen or acetaminophen)
- Running water
- Hand soap
- 60% alcohol based hand sanitizer
- Dish soap
- Laundry soap
- Household cleaning products
- Arrange to have your groceries delivered to you
Note: Students are required to immediately self-isolate upon arrival to Canada so they must arrange for pillows and blanket prior to arrival as they will not be able to shop for necessities until after the isolation period is complete. Since classes are being offered through distance learning and online teaching platforms, students will need to have access to a laptop to be able to conduct studies online. If you are planning on travelling to Canada, it is recommended that you arrange for health insurance from your home country prior to your travels. Once you are in Canada with a valid study permit and registered as a full-time student, you may apply for the Saskatchewan Health Card. The processing time to receive the Saskatchewan Health Card is approximately 6-8 weeks. More information of the Saskatchewan Health Card can be found here.

Official Transcripts: To request your official transcripts, please visit the Registrar's office website. Please note that in-person pick up is suspended until further notice. Please ensure you provide your current mailing address in your transcripts request and they will be mailed to you.
Unofficial transcripts can be obtained through UR self-service (www.uregina.ca).
Confirmation of Enrollment: Confirmation of Enrollment can be requested by email at email@example.com from your uregina.ca email address only. Confirmation of Enrollment will be issued in a PDF format to your uregina.ca email address.
Please ensure to use your uregina email and include your full name, student ID number, and the purpose of the request at the time of sending the email. Graduate students: Please contact the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research office (FGSR) to request for the extension letters.
Immigration Information: At this time, face-to-face immigration sessions are being canceled. If you have any questions regarding your immigration status, please contact us at 306-585-5082, or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please note: “Foreign nationals who are in Canada and whose temporary resident status may soon expire, may apply for an extension so that they may maintain their temporary resident status in Canada. Once the application is submitted, the client will benefit from implied status and may remain in Canada until a decision is rendered on their application.” For more information, please visit the IRCC website.

Accommodation: If you live on-campus, please refer to the email sent to all residents by Housing Services on Saturday, March 14, and follow their instructions.
Fees payment: For any outstanding fees, please contact Financial Services (306-585-4123 or email@example.com) or use UR Self-Service (//banner.uregina.ca/prod/sct/twbkwbis.P_WWWLogin) to settle your account.
